Finance Minister Yassine Jaber received a delegation from the Lebanese Regie for Tobacco in his office on Tuesday. During the meeting, the Regie’s chairman and general manager, Eng. Nassif Seklawi, delivered the final payment of the 2024 profits, amounting to $114 million.
In addition to Seklawi, the delegation included Board members Eng. Georges Hobeika, Dr. Issam Salman, and Dr. Mazen Abboud, as well as Government Commissioner Mirna Baz and Financial Controller Carol Youssef.
Following the meeting, Seklawi said: “We visited His Excellency the Minister to deliver the amounts owed to the Treasury by the Regie, after the release of the 2024 financial results. Although 2024 was a year shadowed by war, fear, and aggression, the Regie was able — despite all the hardships to secure net revenues of $402 million for the treasury. Today, we handed over the final payment for 2024, valued at $114 million, bringing the total revenue transferred to the treasury for the year to $402 million.”
“We also paid $35 million to the treasury in advance from the 2025 profits,” he added.
“Achieving these results under such circumstances was no easy feat.
I salute all those who made this possible, from the Board of Directors and the supervisory authority to every employee in the Regie’s factories who worked under the bombs in areas near Beirut’s southern suburbs, and all those who supported farmers in border regions. We hope our experience serves as a model for all public institutions in the country.”
