Around 365 employees from the Lebanese Regie for Tobacco took part in a hiking trip at the Horsh Ehden Nature Reserve on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, to celebrate Labor Day and mark the Regie’s 90th anniversary.
Among the participants were Board Member Dr. Mazen Abboud, Government Commissioner Mirna Baz, Financial Controller Carol Youssef, as well as employees from various departments of the Regie’s headquarters in Hadat and from its South, North, and Bekaa branches. During the hike, a cedar tree was planted in the name of the Regie near the reserve’s main lodge. On this occasion, Dr. Abboud delivered a speech on behalf of Chairman and Director General, Eng. Nassif Seklawi.
Established on March 9, 1992, Horsh Ehden is the first nature reserve in Lebanon.
It paved the way for the establishment of other reserves, bringing the total number of reserves in the country to 18 today. Horsh Ehden is the richest reserve in Lebanon and the Middle East in terms of biodiversity and is home to over 1,000 plant species, spread across 1,700 hectares.
