Rmeish Municipality Honors Tobacco Crop Purchasing Committee Following Completion of Purchases from Farmers

Rmeish Municipality honored the purchasing committee assigned by the Lebanese Tobacco and Tombacs Regie (Regie), which completed the collection of tobacco crops from farmers in the town and surrounding areas despite the difficult circumstances and the impact of the Israeli attacks on the region.

The Mayor of Rmeish, Mr. Hanna El Amil, along with members of the Municipal Council and residents of Rmeish and neighboring villages, expressed their gratitude to Regie for standing by farmers, providing continuous support, and ensuring the completion of the purchasing process under the directives of its Chairman and Director General, Eng. Nassif Seklaoui.

They also praised the efforts of the committee’s head, Jean Ghafari, and its members, Charbel Sleiman, Youssef El Hajj, Moussa El Hasrouni, and Rafi Tanios, for ensuring the smooth collection of crops throughout their approximately 20-day stay in the town.

The purchasing process in Rmeish and its surrounding areas began on September 22.

Payments have already been made to several farmers, with the remaining cash payments expected to be completed within a few days.

As previously announced by Regie, the purchasing process will continue in other areas of southern Lebanon once farmers are ready to deliver their crops.

Seklaoui had previously issued directives emphasizing the necessity and importance of helping farmers overcome the difficult circumstances they are facing, stressing that all efforts should be carried out within the framework of a collaborative and mutually supportive relationship with farmers.
