Regie Sets October 5 as Date for Tobacco Crop Purchases in Akkar; Seklaoui Discusses Farmers’ Conditions with Union Heads
The Regie Libanaise des Tabacs et Tombacs (Regie) announced that it will begin receiving tobacco crops from farmers in northern Lebanon on October 5, according to a statement issued following a meeting between Regie’s President and Director General, Engineer Nassif Seklaoui, and the heads of tobacco farmers’ unions in Akkar.
Regie explained that the crop-receiving process will take place at three centers at its Tripoli branch and is expected to last approximately a month and a half.
The statement added that the meeting also addressed the conditions of tobacco farmers in Akkar, the assistance provided to them by Regie, and ways to further support them.
