The Regie Libanaise des Tabacs et Tombacs (Regie) announced that it will begin the procurement of the 2026 tobacco crop on Tuesday, September 22, starting in the town of Rmeish and its surrounding areas.
In a statement issued following a meeting with Mr. Hassan Fakih, President of the Federation of Tobacco and Tombac Unions in Lebanon, and Mr. Hanna Al-Amil, Mayor of Rmeish, Regie explained that the crop procurement process will subsequently extend to other areas in South Lebanon, Akkar, and the Bekaa once farmers are ready to deliver their crops.
The statement added that Regie’s Chairman and General Manager, Eng. Nassif Seklaoui, instructed the concerned teams to provide the necessary support to help farmers overcome the difficult circumstances they are facing.
He also stressed the importance of ensuring that the process is carried out within the framework of the strong and complementary partnership between Regie and tobacco farmers.
