As part of its ongoing efforts to combat the smuggling and counterfeiting of tobacco products, the Regie Libanaise des Tabacs et Tombacs announced that its Anti-Trafficking Unit seized large quantities of smuggled cigarettes and raided a workshop producing counterfeit molasses (mu’assal) in the Bekaa towns of Toufiqiyeh and Labweh
The Anti-Trafficking Unit confiscated the counterfeit mu’assal found at the workshop, along with brand-name labels intended for use on packages of adulterated tobacco.
Seizure reports were filed against the violators and sent to the competent judicial authorities for further action.
