The Regie’s chairman and general manager, Eng. Nassif Seklaoui congratulated Louay El Hajj Chehadeh on his appointment as a member of the Supreme Customs Council.
He said:
“The distinguished philosopher and scholar Francis Fukuyama once said that states do not fail because they lack competent individuals, but because individuals are not given a reason to demonstrate their competence.
By appointing Louay El Hajj Chehadeh to the Supreme Customs Council, the Lebanese State has shown its commitment to giving capable individuals real opportunities. It has also reaffirmed its determination to succeed by choosing to entrust responsibility to those who combine both competence and integrity.
To restore and reform our institutions, we need many more people like Louay El Hajj Chehadeh, who embody integrity, understand the specific nature of public institutions and know how to develop and improve performance.
With his appointment, the Lebanese State delivers a clear message:
aligning integrity with expertise can lead to genuine reform, making integrity and professional competence the rational choice for every public servant.
I am proud of you, Louay El Hajj Chehadeh. You are a role model for us all, and a glimmer of hope on the path toward rebuilding the state. Your appointment will encourage all competent individuals in public administrations to fully fulfill their role.”
