The Lebanese Regie for Tobacco held a workshop at its headquarters in Hadat to raise awareness about gender-based violence in the workplace, and to highlight employees’ rights and obligations in this regard in Lebanon and worldwide.
The workshop also provided an overview of ILO Convention No. 190 on violence and harassment in the world of work.
Forty-five participants attended the workshop, including Najwa Hanna, Sub-Regional Secretary for Arab countries at Public Services International (PSI).
It was conducted by Khalil Zaiter, PSI trainer accredited by the International Training Centre of the ILO, original member of PSI’s Executive Board (representing the Arab region), member of the General Confederation of Lebanese Workers’ Executive Council, and Secretary-General of the Union of Beirut Port Employees.
It is worth noting that PSI, established in 1907, comprises around 700 trade unions representing nearly 30 million workers across 154 countries.
