Delegation from Regie participates in global Tax Stamp and Traceability Forum

A delegation from the Lebanese Regie for Tobacco took part in the Tax Stamp and Traceability Forum, recently held in Cape Town, South Africa.

The Regie’s participation came at the invitation of Scopsis, led by Mohamad Ali Ahmad, and its delegation included Financial Manager Wael Dergham and Head of Local Production Department, Eng. Paul Ghanimeh.

In a specialized panel discussion, Ghanimeh shared the Regie’s experience in applying digital tax stamps to its products, outlining the measures taken within this framework.

He then addressed the challenges faced by the Regie highlighting the mechanisms in place to tackle smuggling and counterfeiting through digital solutions. Ghanimeh further noted the Regie’s commitment to enhancing product protection and broadening the digital systems’ scope of application, in line with international standards.

These efforts, he added, also aim to strenghten consumer protection, achieve transparency and boost revenues.

The Regie’s participation in this global forum reflects its commitment to developing its regulatory and logistic ecosystem, while fostering the exchange of expertise with leading international institutions and organizations in the field.
