Efforts Underway to Establish a Mechanism for Receiving the Remaining Tobacco Crops in the South

Based on the directives from the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, H.E. Nabih Berri, and in coordination with Engineer Nassif Seklaoui, President – Director General of the Regie, efforts are being made to secure the receipt of the remaining crops from the south amid the ongoing Israeli aggression against Lebanon. Deputy Dr. Ashraf Baydoun met with Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, to discuss a mechanism for transporting farmers’ crops from southern towns with the assistance of the Lebanese Army and in coordination with UNIFIL forces, thus enabling farmers to deliver their crops to the Regie headquarters in Hadath.

Following the agreement on the transportation mechanism, Deputy Baydoun visited Seklaoui, along with members of the Management Committee, Eng. Jaafar Al-Husseini (Agriculture Manager) and Engineer Abdel Mawla Al-Mawla (Leaf Tobacco Manager). He presented the plan proposed by the Army Command, which involves dividing the southern regions and towns into three groups based on the level of risk in order to facilitate the transportation of farmers’ crops.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Engineer Seklaoui instructed his team to provide the necessary resources for implementing this plan, ensuring the support and cooperation of the army leadership for its success.
