As part of its plan to support tobacco farmers in southern Lebanon, the Regie Libanaise des Tabacs et Tombacs, in cooperation with the Union of Jabal Amel Municipalities and the municipalities of Blida, Aitaroun and Touline, organized three seminars aimed at improving tobacco cultivation practices ahead of the 2026 season.
The first seminar was held in the town of Blida in late January, the second took place in Aitaroun on February 18, while the third was hosted yesterday in Touline.
The sessions, conducted by agricultural engineer Salim Mrad, attracted a large number of farmers, despite the sensitive security conditions prevailing in southern Lebanon.
Alongside these seminars, the Regie distributed 6,080 units of agricultural pesticides to farmers across southern Lebanon, in addition to 1,890 hoses for tobacco nurseries, 250 sprayers and 3,650 items of personal protective equipment, provided by tobacco companies to support the sector.
The Regie noted that additional dates for the distribution of pesticides and agricultural supplies will be announced soon.
