Regie patrol targeted by gunfire, arrests three smugglers during raid in Sour’s Al-Buss camp
A patrol from the Lebanese Regie for Tobacco was targeted by gunfire and retaliated in the same manner during a raid in Al-Buss refugee camp in Sour. This raid resulted in the seizure of large quantities of smuggled cigarettes and counterfeit molasses (mu’assal) as well as the arrest of three smugglers.
In a statement, the Regie clarified “what has been circulating on social media and in the media,” explaining that its Anti-Trafficking Unit had carried out the raid in Al-Buss camp “as part of its efforts to combat the smuggling and counterfeiting of tobacco products.
Seizure reports were filed against the violators and sent to the competent judicial authorities for further action.
