State Security Director: Regie reflects the aspirations of Lebanon’s youth

Brigadier General Edgard Lawandos, director of the State Security Department, visited the headquarters of the Lebanese Regie for Tobacco in Hadat on Wednesday. During the visit, he was briefed on the institution’s operations and described it, in a message written in its Golden Book, as “a national institution that reflects the aspirations of Lebanon’s youth.”

The Regie’s chairman and general manager, Eng. Nassif Seklawi, and Lawandos explored ways of enhancing cooperation and coordination in the fight against smuggling and counterfeiting.

The meeting was attended by Board members Eng. Georges Hobeika, Dr. Issam Salman, and Dr. Mazen Abboud, as well as Government Commissioner Mirna Baz and Financial Controller Carol Youssef.

Lawandos also toured the Regie’s facilities, including the cigarette factory, the power generation station, the IT, Archive, Health and Safety, and Quality Control departments, as well as the control room. In the training hall, he watched a documentary retracing the history of the Regie and exchanged commemorative shields with Seklawi.
