The Regie’s chairman and general manager, Eng. Nassif Seklaoui, in the presence of the head of the Regie’s Sports Committee, Elie Geagea, honored on Thursday Lebanese runner Ninar Hashem Hussein for her recent achievements at the 3rd West Asia U20 Athletics Championship.
This championship, organized by the Lebanese Athletics Federation in October under the supervision of the West Asia Athletics Association and Asian Athletics, saw the participation of nine countries: Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon.
Hussein, who was the only athlete from Southern Lebanon on the Lebanese national team, won the silver medal in the 5000-meter race, finishing second with a time of 23:43.40 minutes.
She also earned the bronze medal in the 3000-meter steeplechase, finishing third with a time of 14:11.20 minutes.
In the overall medal standings (men and women) of the West Asia Championship, Lebanon ranked third with seven gold, four silver, and five bronze medals.
In 2024, Ninar Hussein represented Lebanon at the Istanbul International Half Marathon, adding another accomplishment to her record by finishing third among female participants in a race that gathered 19,000 athletes from around the world.
In 2023, she also represented the Phoenicia Club Sour and Kadmous School in the Limassol Marathon in Cyprus, where she ranked first in her age category (15–17 years) in the 5 km race.
In 2022, she came in second place in the 15–18 age category in the 10 km race at the Larnaca International Marathon in Cyprus.
